In view of this, there is concern in the construction industry about the durability of concrete, since one of the most worrying problems is the deterioration of concrete caused by corrosion of reinforcements. This corrosion process depends mainly on two factors - the distance between the bar and the external environment where there is the presence of aggressoragents (covering) and the porosity of this cover (mainly governed by the water/cement relation). With the general objective of investigating the quality of concrete with different silica contents and different water/cement relations, a research program was developed where a strategy was outlined in two main stages, the first being the study and theoretical basis through bibliographic research based on standards and authors who are references in the theme of the study proposal. The second stage, on the other hand, is an experimental research, which, as in the first one, was based on specialized bibliography and laboratory tests such as accelerated penetration tests of C 1202 chloride ions (ASTM, 2019), water absorption and tests to determine compressive strength. Based on the results obtained in this experimental program, for the test conditions, variables and materials adopted, it can be verified that the higher the water/aglomerant relation, the lower the compressive strength and the greater the penetration and diffusion of chlorides, also verifying that the use of active silica brought greater benefits to concrete in relation to durability providing greater physical protection to the reinforcements of concrete structures.
