Artigo Científico Acesso embargado Relação entre a prática de atividade física e o transtorno depressivo em acadêmicos de um curso de medicina(2018) Rodrigues, Gianderson RufinoDepression is one of the most known disorders today. It affects the functioning ability of the individual, and is characterized by sad or irritable mood, followed by somatic and cognitive changes. Exercise scientists and health and fitness professionals affirm that for better construction of defense against the development of diseases such as disorders and illness, it is necessary to practice regular physical activity. The prevalence of depressive disorders in medical students is already well described, it is estimated that this prevalence is between 8% and 17%. In recent years, articles have demonstrated a relation between physical activity and depression, and the need for a healthy lifestyle. Thus, it was stated whether the need to develop such research in order to observe if there is a relationship between the practice of physical activity and depressive disorder in academic students of the University of Southern Santa Catarina - Unisul. Using two questionnaires, one to evaluate the symptom of depressive disorder (Beck Depressive Inventory) and another for the levels of physical activity (Habitual Physical Activity Questionnaire). A Pearson correlation was performed, with all participants showing a correlation with r = -0.25, that is, the higher the level of physical activity the lower the symptom of depressive disorder. The inability to perform daily activities is linked to depressive disorder, which is recognized by discontent and decreased interest in activities that are generally pleasurable. In verifying the levels of physical activity we observed that the majority of participants (63.9%) are not engaged in any type of activity or little physical activity, that in this population, 40.6% have some symptom of depressive disorder. The practice of physical activity should not be used as the only form of treatment for depressive disorders, but as adjuvant treatment.
