Artigo Científico Acesso fechado Efeitos da aplicação de ácido mandélico e do peeling de diamante no tratamento da cicatriz de acne(2019) Carvalho, Ana PaulaScars are dermal depressions caused by degradation of collagen during cutaneous diseases of inflammatory origin. The atrophic acne scar, is the result of an inflammation in the skin caused by acne, often result in secondary damage in the form of scarring. There are medical treatments used to treat the acne scar, as well as the Peeling of Phenol and Ablative Laser, considered deep treatments, with high risk of infections and prolonged recovery. There are also alternatives of less aggressive treatments with low risk to the patient, such as microdermabrasion (diamond peeling) and the use of chemical peels, such as mandelic acid, which represents a safe class and rapid recovery of the skin. Objectives: In this study, the effects of mandelic acid and diamond peeling in the treatment of atrophic acne scar were analyzed. Methodology: The research was characterized by an exploratory experimental study, with a quantitative approach. The sample consisted of 12 volunteers, divided into two groups: Group A: 6 volunteers were treated with mandelic acid; Group B: 6 volunteers received treatment with diamond peeling and mandelic acid. Both received 6 treatment sessions with weekly interval between sessions. Results: Group B presented a significant reduction in scar size but presented more adverse reactions in the cutaneous tolerability test. Both groups had improvement in the overall appearance of the skin.
