A relação dos parâmetros clínicos peri-implantares e a faixa de mucosa ceratinizada ao redor de implantes: uma revisão integrativa
    (2020) Hoinoski, Jessica
Objectives: The objective of the study was to evaluate the relationship of peri-implant clinical parameters and the range of keratinized mucosa around implants. Material and methods: The presence of an adequate area of the gingiva is considered critical for maintaining marginal tissue health, especially peri-implant. The aim of this review was to demonstrate, through an integrative review, what is the relevance of the peri-implant clinical parameters (sulcus bleeding index, bleeding on probing, probing depth, width of keratinized tissue, marginal recession and modified plaque index) and the keratinized mucosa. Were selected the keywords “probing depth” e “bleeding on probing” e “dental implants” e “keratin” e “oral health”. BVS/Medline, Scielo, PubMed, LILACS and BBO - Odontologia were the databases used, with selection of articles published between 2010 and 2020. At the end of the selection process, 9 papers were included in this review and the results were being compared to each other. Results: A relation between clinical parameters and the amount of keratinized mucosa around a dental implant is affected by several factors, including the patient's smoking habit, the type of implant, the quality and quantity of soft and hard tissues around , surgical procedures, occlusal load and control status of the patient's plaque, in addition to several other factors. Although the band of keratinized mucosa (KM) (≥ 2mm) positively influences the health of peri-implant tissue. Conclusions: The present review showed that there is a difficulty in establishing a definitive conclusion on the effect of keratinized mucosa on peri-implant clinical parameters, although most of the studies mentioned have shown a positive relation between the quality of peri-implant tissue and healthy clinical parameters while other researches has shown that this relation is irrelevant.

Prevalência dos erros radiográficos durante o tratamento endodôntico realizados por alunos da Universidade do Sul de Santa Catarina
    (2020) Schlosser, Ariana
Introduction: During academic training, even in constant training and evaluation, many radiographic errors are still made by students. Since radiology is an essential requirement for the training of dental surgeons. Objective: To determine the prevalence of errors in periapical radiographs during endodontic treatments performed by dentistry students at the University of Southern Santa Catarina - Campus Grande Florianópolis. Materials and methods: 2211 digital periapical radiographs of 226 medical records of patients who underwent endodontic treatment in the period of the second semester 2017 and the first and second semester of the years 2018 and 2019 were evaluated by undergraduate students of the institution. The following radiographic errors were analyzed: incorrect positioning of the film, vertical angulation, horizontal angulation, appearance of a half moon or halo, cut of dental structure, dissociation error and error in the use of positioner. It was also recorded, which region and tooth treated, stage of treatment in which the radiography was performed and stage of the student. Data were tabulated, descriptive analysis and association tests using Pearson's Chi-square were performed using Stata software version 13.0, with a 5% significance level. Results: Of the radiographs analyzed, 64.7% (1431) were considered inadequate, that is, they had at least one radiographic error; the most prevalent error was 41.9% incorrect vertical angulation, followed by 38.5% dental structure cut. No statistical differences were found for radiographic errors between 6th and 9th grade students. Conclusion: Obtaining periapical radiographs during endodontic treatments is a procedure that is difficult to perform for all students who are taking clinical disciplines, therefore, it is necessary to constantly reinforce the techniques and provide greater training on the part of academics, with a view to that more than half of the sample had radiographic errors.

Análise radiográfica dos principais erros e acidentes cometidos por alunos de graduação durante a obturação do sistema de canais radiculares
    (2020) Külkamp, Hênella Scremin
The aim of this study was to investigate the main mistakes and accidents made during the root canal obturation, performed by undergraduate students from UNISUL, through pre and operative digital periapical radiographs. Also, the presence of a definitive restoration, after the end of the endodontic treatment, was verified. To do that, the dental records from the second semester of 2017 and the first and second semester of 2018 and 2019 of patients who received at least one endodontic treatment, performed by the undergraduation students, were investigated. The following criteria were observed in the radiographs: overfill, underfill, poor obturation 11 (condensation) and coronary obturation limit cut, and the presence of a definitive restoration with composite resin or intrarradicular pin and crown. It was possible to observe that 44.4% of obturations presented themselves with flaws, 7.1% of root canal were underfilled and 3.4% were overfilled. In regard to the coronal cut, 44% presented themselves with insufficient coronal cut and 4.9% were presented excessive coronal cut. Regarding restorations, 71.3% were sealed with provisional material. Therefore, it can be concluded that the most common mistakes and accidents during obturation were in sequence: insufficient coronal cut, underfilling, excessive coronal cut and overfilling. Still, most of the analyzed teeth did not present definitive restoration.

Reconhecimento de aspectos clínicos de oclusão nas dentições decídua e mista, por acadêmicos de odontologia
(2019) Ramos, Paula Ribeiro do Valle
The dentist should be trained, from graduation to diagnose characteristics in deciduous and mixed dentition, which contribute or not to the development of a healthy permanent occlusion. This study aimed to evaluate the degree of knowledge of dental students from 3 institutions of Santa Catarina in identifying malocclusions and indicating the most appropriate time to start orthodontic treatment. For this, an online questionnaire was applied with personal questions, as well as 4 clinical cases of patients with deciduous and mixed dentition. The results showed that most students indicated treatment for: posterior crossbite (89.53%), Class III (98.4%) and Anterior open-bite (97.67%). In the case of normal occlusion, it is noteworthy that 59.30% of the students indicated the need for treatment. Considering the importance of the theme, and the small number of the sample, it is suggested that more studies be conducted in this área.

Satisfação quanto às condições clínicas e radiograficas de próteses fixas unitárias em função com mais de 3 anos
    (2019) Fernandes, Eduardo Rafael
Aim: To measure the perception of patients rehabilitated with fixed unitary prostheses in the Dentistry Clinic of the Southern University of Santa Catarina (UNISUL), Grande Florianópolis campus. Materials and methods: Data analysis followed the qualitative method. The data source consisted of eight patients. Socio-demographic data (name, age, gender, schooling) were collected, followed by a clinical examination where the presence of mechanical failures, biological or associated failures was observed, followed by radiographic examination. The guiding questions of the semi-structured interview were carried out. The categories that permeated the interview were satisfaction perception, functional and aesthetic satisfaction, perception of the hygiene condition, and maintenance of the prosthesis. Results: The patients had 15 fixed unit prostheses, with a mean time of use of 7.8 years. The predominant material was metaloceramic. Regarding general satisfaction, 2 patients reported maximum (optimal) grade, another 2 reported being good and 4 patients declared unsatisfactory. In the study, 6 patients reported being easily hygienic, but none were informed about correct hygiene of their prostheses. In the clinical and radiographic examination, it was verified that all the patients had flaws and complications. Conclusion: Patients have different perspectives regarding the functionality and mainly the aesthetics of their fixed prostheses. Instructions from the professional regarding the prosthesis hygiene and maintenance consultations are fundamental to minimize the appearance of failures and complications. Correct planning is essential to avoid errors and mechanical, biological and aesthetic consequences.
