Artigo Científico Acesso fechado Avaliação do estado de hidratação e da percepção subjetiva de esforço de corredores submetidos ao consumo de diferentes bebidas de hidratação(2019) Teixeira, Laís PachecoIntroduction: The street race has been attracting more fans because it is a versatile and low-cost sport. Hydration plays an important role in this modality. However, physical exertion performed under inadequate water intake can lead to undesirable consequences such as fatigue, dehydration and falling performance. Objective: To evaluate the state of hydration and the subjective perception of effort of runners submitted to different hydration drinks (water and isotonic) in 2 21km training sessions. Method: The sample consisted of 8 individuals, 7 men and 1 woman. Two 21km training sessions were conducted, one with hydration only with water and another with isotonic only. For the evaluation of dehydration, the body weight loss before and after the training, the sweating rate, the subjective perception of the effort and the evaluation of the nutritional status were analyzed. Results: There was no significant difference in the percentage of dehydration between the two training sessions. The water intake was significantly higher in training A, as was the sweating rate. Discussion: None of the drinks avoided dehydration. Water intake was higher in water training, however, the amount was not enough to reduce sweating loss. The performance of the runners was better with isotonic. Poor performance in water training may be associated with hyponatremia. Conclusion: None of the beverages were sufficient to prevent dehydration. The isotonic had a lower consumption, but presented better results in reducing the rate of sweating and in the performance of the athletes.
