Artigo Científico Acesso embargado Consumo de suplementos nutricionais nas academias da cidade de Capivari de Baixo - SC(2018) Felipe, Heitor BerglerIntroduction: Is a growing number of people who seek to improve their body image and quality of life, even as the search for bodybuilding academies and the consumption of supplements. Objective: Evaluate the profile of academy goers of academies of the city of Capivari de Baixo - SC, identifying the most used supplements and their source of indication. Materials and methods: Transverse search, descriptive, quantitative and observational study, realised from November 2017 to February 2018, where a questionnaire containing 12 questions about the use of supplements was applied. Results: Sample consisted of 168 people, with average age 27 years (± 8,2), 111 men and 57 women. The majority practiced physical exercises of three to six hours weekly; practiced bodybuilding; had goals of gaining muscle mass, health and reduce weight. 43,4% used supplements, of these 98% were satisfied with the use. The most commonly used supplement was Whey protien (84%). The main purpose reported for use was to gain muscle mass (70%). Among users, 34% received nutritionist's appointment and 35,6% invests monthly from $ 101,00 to $ 151,00 in supplements. There was an association between intake of supplements, gender and time of practice of physical exercise. The majority of users were men between the ages of 18 and 29, complete high school and more than one year of physical exercise. Conclusion: Men are more frequent in academies, protein supplements are more consumed and the nutritionist was the main source of indication. Future studies are needed on the use of these products.
